Bright Young Things are a 3 piece band consisting of Jordan Quinn on guitar and vocals, Ollie Catchpole on bass and Andy Robinson on drums.
They’re located in Northern Ireland, a place where some of the greatest bands/artists like The Undertones, Stiff Little Fingers and Van Morrison all came from.
They hope to see a bright future for themselves, one that brings with it more rocking gigs and laughs.
“It’s All In The Music.”
Wher are you from?
We’re all from a small town in Northern Ireland called Ballygowan - it’s not known for anything or anyone, that about sums it up.
what was the first album you bought?
Was danderin’ down the street one day and spotted an Elvis Presley greatest hits lp in a charity shop and couldn’t resist. Didn’t even have a record player.
when did you first pick up an instrument? (Jordan) “i was 13 and bored of sitting in the house all day long, so I decided to look for a cheap guitar online, nagged my dad and he gave in” (Ollie) “23rd of February 2019, my birthday - got my first ever acoustic guitar and that’s where it all started for me” (Andy) “I can’t even remember I have been playing drums all my life”
who inspires you?
The Beatles are easily our biggest inspiration. Grew up listening to them, I’ll grow old listening to them.
what has been your favourite gig you played? Probably our first gig because it was our first ever playing as a band together properly. It was a talent show which we happened to win.
what is your favourite venue?
3arena Dublin - the sound in that place is just mental. Good times.
what is your favourite festival?
Belfast Vidal. The crowd are always up for a good time and the music is just amazing. Weather doesn’t matter.
what is your favourite album? Really hard to choose a specific album but at the moment it’s Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys. The harmonies are just out of this world. Brian Wilson is a genius
who is your absolute idol? George Harrison. Extraordinary guitarist, quite underrated even as a beatle. His song writing was as good as Lennon/McCartney.
Name three artists to recommend? Buddy Holly, Nirvana and Oasis.
”daydream”
”cheer up Cherie”
“Roadside”
